It is impossible to imagine Lucerne's Neustadt without the Helvetia restaurant. Originally opened in 1900 as Hotel Helvetia and an «alcohol-free people's house», it even served as an emergency shelter at one point. Since 1923, the building has been home to both residences and a restaurant. Today, Helvetia is one of Lucerne’s most beloved meeting places – located right next to the enchanting Helvetiagärtli and at the heart of the lively Neustadt district. Since June 2025, we’ve been bringing new energy and heartfelt hospitality to this special place – so it can continue to be a favorite spot for many, well into the future.
